Valokuvakeskus Nykyajan 40-vuotisjuhlanäyttely JUHLAT (in English below)

Haku Valokuvakeskus Nykyajan JUHLAT-juhlanäyttelyyn on avoinna 1.2.–31.3.2022 välisenä aikana.

Photographic Centre Nykyaika 40th Anniversary Exhibition PARTY

Open call for Photographic Centre Nykyaika’s 40th anniversary exhibition “Party” is open from 1 February– to 31 March 2022. The applications can be submitted through this form and the artists will be selected between April 1 and April 30, 2022.

The exhibition, which will be held at the Culture House Laikku in Tampere from September 17 to October 9, 2022, will celebrate life and time. All artists and professionals working with lens-based media can offer their works in this open call. The exhibition is curated by film director Johanna Vuoksenmaa.

Life is motion and change, continual surge in time until it ends. One of the superpowers of a photograph is its ability to stop time and motion in the midst of life, make change visible, to capture moments from the current of time. Once one stops in such moment, they may understand the miracle and value of life, how wonderful it is to swim in this current.

I’m looking for works or bodies of works, that express life. The rich, the loved, the fragmented life, human life, animalism or any expression of life, that could make the spectator stop. Life’s fragility and beauty, absurdity and randomness, joy and tragedy, ordinariness and glory will be celebrated in this exhibition. I hope that when a visitor walks out they would remember, even for a short moment, to rejoice and celebrate the chance to be alive.
